When you use the OneDrive application on Windows to sync files from your personal OneDrive or from a SharePoint site, there are various icons to show the status of files and what the OneDrive client is doing. This guide aims to cover the most commonly used one that you may see.
Locations
Notification Area
The Notification Area sits at the far-right end of the taskbar, immediately to the left of the clock and date. It displays status icons for network connectivity, volume control, battery level (on portable devices) and security notifications. If additional icons are running than can fit, click the up-arrow chevron (^) to reveal any hidden icons.
File Explorer
In File Explorer, the sync status icons appear as small overlays on each file or folder’s icon in the main content pane. Whether you’re in Icons, List or Tiles view, you’ll spot them tucked into the lower corner of the item’s icon. If your folder is set to Details view, the same overlays still sit on the little icon at the start of each row—just to the left of the file or folder name.
