The University provide Kx for installation on Company Portal. This should make the process of installing Kx much easier and updates can be sent out centrally. Once Kx is installed by a user, anybody who uses that computer can then launch Kx.

Accessing the Company Portal

Company Portal is an application provided by Microsoft that allow the University to provide applications that users can download and install without an administrator. To access the Company Portal:

  • Open the Start menu.
  • Either type Company Portal or click "All >" at the top right to view all the apps installed on the device, open the application.

You may be required to sign in/select your institution upon first opening Company Portal. Use your University account and select St John's College from the list.

To use Company Portal, you must be the Primary User of the device, for shared devices this will often be a member of the IT team. If you are not the Primary User of the device, you can contact the IT Support team who will be able to help.

Installing Kx

You can browse for Kx in the Apps list, or alternatively you can use the search bar at the top to search for Kx. The application is called Kx Kinetix as shown below:

Click Install and the required files will copy to your computer.

Launching Kx

When installed, a shortcut to Kx will be added to your Start menu. You can find it under the All Apps section of the start menu.

Once it's open, you can pin it to your taskbar as normal by right clicking on the icon on your taskbar and selecting "Pin to taskbar".
