There are two main methods for adding your email account, you can make use of the default Mail app that comes installed on Apple mobile devices (iPhone and iPad). Alternatively you can download the official Outlook app from the App Store.

UIS recommend making use of the Outlook app provided by Microsoft, however we will provide a guide to both here.

Outlook

You will need to download the Outlook app from the App Store on your Apple mobile device. Simply open the App Store, search for "Outlook" and download the official Microsoft app. Once installed, open the app from your device's home screen and you'll be guided through the process.

  • Select Add Account.
  • Outlook may detect your email account if it has been used elsewhere on your device. You can tap Continue if it's correct, or tap Skip if it's detected the wrong account. You'll be asked for the email address (CRSid@cam.ac.uk) and password of the correct account.
  • You'll be asked for multi-factor authentication for your account.
  • The account will be added, you'll be asked to add another account. If you do not wish to add any further accounts, you can tap Maybe Later.

You'll be taken to your inbox, you may be asked if you wish to enable notifications for Outlook by your device. This is optional, but is recommended to turn on to allow notifications for new emails.

Mail

The mail app which is default on Apple mobile devices needs to be configured through the Settings app.

  • Open the Settings app
  • Scroll down and tap Mail
  • Tap Accounts
  • Tap Add Account
  • Tap Microsoft Exchange
  • Enter your email address (CRSid@cam.ac.uk) followed by a description (if you have multiple accounts in this app, this will help you differentiate between them) and tap Next
  • Tap Sign In on the pop up that appears
  • Tap Continue on the next pop up that appears
  • You'll be directed to the Microsoft sign in, enter your University password and click Sign in
  • Pass the multi-factor authentication prompt
  • You can then select what you wish to sync. You can toggle these settings later if you wish. Click Save if you are happy with the default.

You can then close the Settings app and open the Mail app, you should see your emails have been added to the Apple Mail app.
